Project Description: Restaurant Design
Studio Rethink Ibiza was tasked with designing a Speakeasy Style Cocktail Bar & Restaurant in Italy. The concept aimed to recreate the hidden bars of the 1920s prohibition era, with a retro feel that would transport clients to a bygone era.
The design featured a combination of classic furniture, metals, woods, and marbles, immersed in a blue-colored atmosphere. The aim was to create a timeless space where clients could be the protagonists alongside their drinks.
Project Challenges
One main challenge was creating a space that would stand the test of time. The design needed to be elegant and functional, focusing on the bar counter where the materials became one with the bottles, completing the design.
Another challenge was to create an ambiance that enhanced the client’s experience. This was achieved through careful lighting design that highlighted key features of the space and added to the overall atmosphere.
Project Description
«El Local» is a restaurant designed by Studio Rethink Ibiza to create a warm atmosphere that welcomes clients into its environment. The goal was to create a cozy, unique, and relaxed space, especially in Ibiza.
The design team crafted custom-made furniture by handcrafting wood and metal, which fused industrial and modern styles. The warm lighting design by Plumeen sweetened the overall ambiance. A custom bar counter was made out of scrap wood recovered from local carpenters, while shelves, tables, and stools were made out of Iron solid wood. The plant decoration added a touch of wildness to the space, completing the overall design.
Project Challenges
One of the main challenges faced by Studio Rethink Ibiza was sourcing sustainable materials. The team had to ensure that the materials fit the restaurant’s aesthetic while being environmentally friendly. They worked with local carpenters to recover scrap wood for the bar counter and utilized Iroko solid wood for the shelves, tables, and stools.
Another challenge was designing a functional space that was also aesthetically pleasing. The team had to ensure that the restaurant could accommodate the needs of the kitchen staff while providing a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience for clients.

The project was managed and designed by Gianpaolo Passaretti, who brought his expertise in design and project management to create a space that exceeded the client’s expectations. The result was a speakeasy-style cocktail bar that successfully recreated the feeling of a bygone era while providing a modern and functional space for clients to enjoy their drinks.
